Dating Photography

Two things that you will find on every single dating site are a profile and a profile photo.  These are the items you use to share your personality and entice other singles to contact you through the website.  Only recently has dating photography become a specialty practiced by professional photographers for online dating.  Internet dating has become mainstream but the techniques to have a successful online dating experience have still not become common knowledge.  The most important factor you need to know about is dating photography.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Dating Photography

DON’T post an outdated photo of yourself.  It’s hard enough to trust people online; don’t spoil what little trust you have by displaying dating photos that aren’t representative of yourself.

DO post a quality up-to-date photo of yourself.  If possible visit professional photographers for online dating to get a high-quality photo of yourself that stands out.

DON’T post a profile without a photo.  Who doesn’t have a single photo of themselves?  If your profile doesn’t have a photo, everyone will assume you look like a deformed troll and you will not be contacted by anyone.

DO dress to impress in your photo.  Dress just like you would for a first date in your photo because it’s your best chance to actually get that first date.

DON’T post a photo with a visible flash.  It may have seemed cool or unique at one point in time but no one will be impressed by a photo of yourself standing in front of the mirror with your face half obscured by a camera flash.  This is dating photography, not art class.

DO post multiple photos of yourself.  Anybody can look good for one shot.  Show that you can look good in different situations.  Maybe post a photo of yourself doing something funny to show you have a sense of humor or a photo participating in a favorite activity.

DON’T post a bunch of photos of your pet.  Unless this is a pet owner dating site, it’s best to hold all those of you and your cat.  Of course you can mention your pet in your profile but posting a bunch of photos of you and your cat can send the wrong message.  It says “you’ll be competing against this” or “I get along better with animals than people”.
